As I previously mentioned, I am a member of LinkedIn, as well as Gather.com. I frankly only check in with LinkedIn, and rarely use Gather. I have also used Yelp, and checked out what people are saying about my libraries on it. I agree with the article that which pointed out that with busy lives, checking in with social networking sites is time consuming. I totally get the appeal of all of these - I am just not sure that I care enough to make a point of checking in all the time. I think that libraries should pay attention to them, though. I especially think that book related topics hold a special appeal - people like to talk about books and we need to be there, both inside and outside the library.
